Dymond SolidCor 237™ is a heavy-duty, bio-based urethane cement flooring system designed for demanding commercial and industrial environments. Its pourable slurry formulation delivers outstanding wear performance together with resistance to thermal shock, impact, abrasion and chemical exposure.

SolidCor 237 can withstand higher heat exposure than typical unmodified urethanes and is particularly well suited to hot washdown areas. Recommended applications include commercial kitchens, food preparation areas, food and beverage facilities, restrooms and locker rooms.

SolidCor 237 is formulated for floors exposed to demanding operating conditions. Compared with typical unmodified urethanes, it can withstand higher heat exposure and provides good thermal shock capabilities, making it a suitable choice for hot washdown environments.

The system also withstands moderate impact, abrasion and chemical exposure. Its seamless construction eliminates grout lines where dirt and contaminants can collect, helping to create a durable and hygienic surface for commercial kitchens and food and beverage facilities.

Chemical Resistance

SolidCor 237 has been tested against a range of food-related substances and industrial chemicals. Spot testing showed no physical damage from mustard, ketchup, lactic acid, vinegar or lemon juice.

The product also passed 24-hour immersion testing with 10% acetic acid, 30% nitric acid, 50% sodium hydroxide, 30% sulfuric acid and xylene. Chemical mixtures and exposure to chemicals at elevated temperatures should always be evaluated before installation.

Installation

SolidCor 237 is normally installed directly onto properly prepared concrete without a primer. If concrete outgassing occurs during application, installation should be stopped and a suitable primer applied before continuing.

Immediately after mixing, the pourable slurry is spread to the required thickness using a cam rake or other suitable equipment. It is then backrolled with a spike roller to settle the aggregate and reduce rake lines, followed by a loop or texture roller before broadcasting.

Aggregate or decorative flakes can be broadcast to rejection into the wet slurry. Once cured, the excess broadcast material is removed and the surface can be scraped before applying an optional topcoat to lock in the aggregate.

Yes. SolidCor 237 is recommended for commercial kitchens, food preparation areas and food and beverage facilities where a durable, seamless and shock-resistant floor is required.

How do I mix SolidCor 237 urethane cement slurry?

SolidCor 237 is supplied in premeasured kits and the complete kit should be mixed as supplied. Do not divide or modify the components.

Pour Part A into a clean five-gallon mixing pail. When using the separate dry pigment, add the complete pigment bag to Part A and mix for approximately 15 seconds using a low-speed drill and Jiffy-style mixing paddle. Add Part B and mix for a further 15 seconds.

Gradually add the complete bag of blended aggregate and continue mixing for approximately two minutes, or until all aggregate particles are thoroughly wetted and the mixture is uniform. Use slow-speed mixing equipment to avoid introducing excessive air.

Transfer the mixed material into a second clean pail and remix before application. Apply the product immediately after mixing, as the working time is approximately 15 minutes at 77°F.

How much area does one kit cover?

One standard SolidCor 237 kit typically covers approximately 37–46 square feet at 1/8-inch thickness. Actual coverage will vary depending on the concrete profile, application thickness, surface condition and complete system configuration.

Can SolidCor 237 handle heavy traffic?

SolidCor 237 is designed for demanding, high-wear commercial and industrial environments exposed to impact, abrasion and heavy use. It has a typical compressive strength of 8,400 psi, a Shore D hardness of approximately 80 and 100% concrete failure during bond-strength testing.

At 77°F, allow approximately 12 hours before light foot traffic, 24 hours before heavy foot traffic and seven days for full cure. Colder temperatures will increase the required cure time.

What surface preparation is required?

The concrete must be structurally sound, dry and free from dirt, oil, laitance, coatings and other contaminants. Fine brush blasting or shot blasting is the preferred preparation method. The finished concrete should have an ICRI CSP 3–5 surface profile.

Repair cracks, bug holes and other concrete imperfections before installation, and grind down raised projections. Do not apply SolidCor 237 over cracked or unsound concrete that has not been properly repaired.

Anchoring keyways measuring at least 5/16 inch wide by 5/16 inch deep must be cut at terminations, joints, columns, doorways and drains to help prevent lifting and delamination.

Does SolidCor 237 require a primer?

A primer is not normally required when SolidCor 237 is installed over properly prepared concrete. If concrete outgassing occurs, stop the installation and apply a suitable primer before continuing.

At what thickness should SolidCor 237 be installed?

Typical finished installations range from approximately 1/8 to 3/16 inch, depending on the condition of the concrete, the broadcast material and the selected topcoat system. SolidCor 237 should not be feather-edged.

Can aggregate or decorative flakes be used?

Yes. Aggregate or decorative flakes can be broadcast into the wet slurry. The surface should be broadcast until no wet areas remain. Once cured, remove the excess material and scrape the floor as required before applying an optional topcoat.

Does SolidCor 237 require a topcoat?

A topcoat is optional and depends on the required finish and complete flooring system. When aggregate or decorative flakes are broadcast into the slurry, a suitable topcoat can be applied to lock the broadcast material into the surface.

How much heat can SolidCor 237 withstand?

The published heat resistance is up to 200°F. SolidCor 237 can withstand higher heat exposure than typical unmodified urethanes and has good thermal shock capabilities. However, high heat may discolor the surface, and chemical exposure at elevated temperatures should be evaluated before installation.

Important Installation Considerations

  • Do not install over wet, cracked or unsound concrete.
  • New concrete must be cured for at least 15 days before application.
  • The substrate temperature must remain at least 5°F above the dew point.
  • Apply between 45°F and 85°F with relative humidity below 85%.
  • Moisture vapor transmission must not exceed 12 lb per 1,000 sq. ft. over 24 hours.
  • The product is not UV or color stable and may discolor under high heat or certain lighting conditions.
  • Floors should be sloped toward drains to prevent standing water and reduce slipping hazards.
  • Always install a suitable test area to confirm performance, appearance and compatibility before completing the entire project.

1) PRODUCT STORAGE: Store product in an area as to bring the material to normal room temperature before using.  Continuous storage should be between 60 and 90 degrees F.  Low temperatures may cause product crystallization. Do Not Freeze.

2) SURFACE PREPARATION:  The most suitable surface preparation would be a fine brush blast (shot blast) to remove
all laitance and provide a suitable profile.  All dirt, foreign contaminants, oil and laitance must be removed to assure a trouble free bond to the substrate. A test should be made to determine that the concrete moisture content is controlled to acceptable levels, this can be done by placing a 4’X4’ plastic
sheet on the substrate and taping down the edges.  If after 24 hours, the substrate is still dry below the plastic sheet, then the substrate is generally considered suitable for coatings. The plastic sheet testing is also a good method to determine if
any hydrostatic pressure problems exist that may later cause disbonding. After surface preparation and before application, repair all bug holes and grind down any projections. Repair all cracks or concrete Imperfections. Surface should have a minimum tensile strength of at least 300 psi @ ASTM D-4541. Surface profile should be CSP 3-5 per International Concrete Repair Institute guidelines.

3) PRODUCT MIXING:  This product is packaged in pre-measured kits. Use the entire kit - do not modify. Pour the part A into a five gallon mixing vessel. If adding color, add one bag of the powder pigment to the part A and mix about 15 seconds using a 1/2" drill and jiffy type mixing paddle. Next, add the part B and again mix for about 15 seconds. Finally, gradually add all of the contents from the provided aggregate filler bag into the liquid mixture and blend thoroughly until all particles are thoroughly wetted out; this will usually take about two minutes. Use slow speed mixing equipment to avoid adding air into the mix. After mixing, transfer the mixed material to another pail (the transfer pail) and again remix.  The material in the transfer pail is now ready to be applied on the prepared substrate. Remix occasionally to prevent settling of aggregate. Improper mixing may result in product failure. Make sure to apply the product immediately after it is completely mixed

 4) PRIMING:  No primer is necessary on a properly prepared substrate, however, if concrete outgassing occurs, discontinue application and apply a suitable primer.

5) PRODUCT APPLICATION:  Have the floor as dry as possible without any puddles of water present. To prevent lifting and delaminations, keyways (minimum 5/16" wide x 5/16" deep)
must be cut at all terminations, joints, columns, doorways and drains. Immediately after mixing, spread the mixed material onto the floor at the desired thickness, using a cam rake or other suitable equipment; approximately 1/8" for a 3/16: finished floor. Apply abutting edges within 5-10 minutes to ensure a clean edge. A "wet edge" installation is imperative for larger areas to avoid lines and ridges in the finished floor. When installing, evenly apply to the desired thickness while trying to keep the cam rake lines
to a minimum. Backroll across the applied slurry with a spike roller to help settle aggregate and blend in cam rake lines. Further roll with a loop/texture roller perpendicular to cam rake lines over the entire floor surface to even and settle the slurry prior to broadcasting. Finally, broadcast to rejection with the desired broadcast media (aggregate or decorative flakes) onto the wet
slurry. Do not broadcast onto the wet edges until settling and backrolling is complete. Continue to broadcast until no wet areas remain. After Curing (typically around 6-8 hours for light foot traffic), remove all excess broadcast media and scrape floor as desired. A topcoat can now be applied to lock in the aggregate. Surfaces not broadcasted could have an uneven texture, color streaks or color differences and an orange peel look. Maintain temperatures and relative humidity within the recommended ranges during the application and curing process. Do not apply to cracked or unsound concrete. Do not feather edge.

6) RECOAT OR TOPCOATING: Except for the aggregate broadcast, topcoats are optional dependent on desired results. In some areas, a suitable novolac or other types of coatings can be used, depending on specific requirements. 

 7) CLEANUP: For cleaning any application, equipment, water can be used. The urethane component container is best cleaned with a suitable solvent.  

8) FLOOR CLEANING: Caution!  Some cleaners may affect the color of the floor installed. Test each cleaner in a small area, utilizing your cleaning technique. If no ill effects are noted, you can continue to clean with the product and process tested.

9) RESTRICTIONS: Restrict the use of the floor to light traffic and non-harsh chemicals until the coating is fully cured (see technical data under full cure).  It is best to let the floor remain dry for the full cure cycle. Dependent on actual complete system application, surface may be slippery, especially when wet or contaminated; keep surface clean and dry.

Installations over wood, tile, or outdoor surfaces are excluded unless specifically approved. Cosmetic issues such as texture variation, microbubbling, or minor tint shift are not covered. Warranty coverage is limited to the original purchaser and is non-transferable. Claims must be submitted with photographic evidence of each install stage and full batch documentation. Dymond reserves the right to determine whether the cause of failure falls within warranty scope.

Can This Be Installed Over My Existing Floor?

Yes, in many cases, but the floor underneath has to be clean, solid, and mechanically prepared. The coating can only bond as well as the surface it is applied to.

Every floor is different. When coating over anything other than properly prepared concrete, we strongly recommend applying a small test area first.
