KorTek 917 Lithium Silicate Concrete Densifier

KorTek 917 Lithium Silicate Concrete Densifier

Dymond KorTek 917 is an extra-strength, water-based lithium concrete densifier designed to chemically harden, dustproof, and fortify concrete and cementitious substrates. It penetrates into the surface and reacts with the concrete to improve abrasion resistance, durability, moisture resistance, and protection against wear while keeping the substrate breathable.

KorTek 917 is ideal for concrete floors, sidewalks, driveways, cement surfaces, natural stone, and precast stone where a stronger, longer-lasting surface is required without changing the overall appearance of the substrate.

Key Benefits

  • Extra-strength lithium concrete densifier
  • One-component, water-based formula
  • No VOCs
  • Helps harden and fortify concrete surfaces
  • Reduces concrete dusting
  • Improves abrasion resistance and surface durability
  • Helps protect against wear, moisture damage, and efflorescence
  • Maintains breathability
  • Normally does not change the appearance of the substrate
  • No primer or topcoat required
  • Can be applied by sprayer, mop, brush, or other suitable method

Recommended Uses

  • Concrete floors
  • Garage floors
  • Warehouse floors
  • Workshops
  • Sidewalks
  • Driveways
  • Cementitious substrates
  • Natural stone
  • Precast stone
  • Dusting concrete surfaces
  • Exterior concrete exposed to weathering

How KorTek 917 Works

KorTek 917 uses lithium densifier technology to react with cementitious ingredients within the substrate. Once the reaction occurs, the treated surface becomes denser, harder, and more abrasion resistant.

Unlike a traditional film-forming sealer, KorTek 917 becomes an integral part of the surface. It does not create an impermeable coating, so the concrete remains breathable while gaining improved protection against wear, dusting, moisture, and surface deterioration.

Why Choose Dymond KorTek 917?

KorTek 917 is a strong choice when you want to improve concrete performance without installing a visible coating system. It helps harden weak or dusting concrete, improves surface durability, and protects the substrate while preserving the natural concrete appearance.

For industrial floors, commercial spaces, driveways, sidewalks, and concrete substrates exposed to everyday wear, KorTek 917 strengthens the concrete from within rather than simply sitting on top of the surface.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is KorTek 917 used for?

KorTek 917 is used to densify, harden, and dustproof concrete, cement, natural stone, precast stone, sidewalks, driveways, and floors.

Is KorTek 917 a concrete sealer?

KorTek 917 helps reduce water absorption, but it is not a traditional film-forming sealer. It penetrates into the concrete and reacts with the substrate while allowing the treated surface to remain breathable.

Will KorTek 917 change the appearance of my concrete?

Normally, KorTek 917 does not significantly change the overall appearance of the substrate. After drying, the treatment is usually not readily visible, except the concrete has been fortified and strengthened.

How much coverage will I get?

Coverage depends on the absorptivity of the substrate. Typical coverage is 100 to 400 square feet per gallon when the surface is fully saturated.

Does KorTek 917 require a primer?

No. KorTek 917 does not require a primer.

Does KorTek 917 require a topcoat?

No. A topcoat is not required. Multiple coats of KorTek 917 are compatible, although one coat is normally sufficient.

How long should KorTek 917 dry?

Allow the treated surface to dry for 24 hours to obtain maximum benefit. Keep the floor dry and restrict traffic during this period.

Can KorTek 917 be used outside?

Yes. KorTek 917 is suitable for exterior concrete such as sidewalks and driveways, and it helps improve resistance to weathering and freeze-thaw effects.

Can KorTek 917 be applied to damp concrete?

The substrate can be damp, but there should be no standing water or puddles. Best results are usually achieved on a dry substrate.

Application Summary

  1. Clean the surface thoroughly.
  2. Remove dirt, oil, dust, laitance, and other contaminants.
  3. Stir KorTek 917 before use.
  4. Apply without thinning using a sprayer, mop, brush, or suitable application method.
  5. Saturate the surface without allowing puddles to remain.
  6. Maintain a wet edge during application to help avoid water spotting.
  7. Allow the treated surface to dry for 24 hours for maximum benefit.
  8. Keep the floor dry and restrict traffic during the 24-hour drying period.

Normally, one coat is sufficient. If a second pass is desired, apply it while the substrate is still wet. Avoid overlapping wet material onto dry, previously treated areas, as this may cause water spotting.

Important Application Notes

  • Best results are achieved on a dry substrate.
  • The surface may be damp before application, but there must be no standing water or puddles.
  • Protect glass, metal, aluminum, plastic, and vegetation from overspray.
  • Rinse any overspray immediately with water before it dries.
  • Always apply a test patch before full application.
  • Under certain conditions, a white precipitate may appear as the lithium solution dries.
  • If white spotting occurs, it can usually be removed with water and a stiff broom.
  • Surface may be slippery when wet or contaminated, so keep treated areas clean and dry.

The Strength of Diamond. The Confidence of a Lifetime.

Dymond Coatings are engineered with the same qualities as their namesake — tough, long-lasting, and built to bond for life. That’s why we back every eligible Dymond kit with our Lifetime Promise: if your floor fails due to a verified product defect, we’ll replace the material or issue a credit toward your next job. This warranty applies to complete Dymond systems (primer, base coat, and topcoat) when installed on indoor concrete surfaces and applied according to Dymond’s preparation and application guidelines. Covered issues include delamination caused by faulty resin blends, curing failure due to batch defects, and contamination introduced during manufacturing or packaging. To qualify, the product must be within shelf life, used under proper storage conditions, and installed using only Dymond components.

This warranty does not extend to issues arising from improper surface preparation, substrate contamination, excessive moisture vapor, impact or abuse, substrate movement, or UV discoloration of white/light epoxies. Installations over wood, tile, or outdoor surfaces are excluded unless specifically approved. Cosmetic issues such as texture variation, microbubbling, or minor tint shift are not covered. Warranty coverage is limited to the original purchaser and is non-transferable. Claims must be submitted with photographic evidence of each install stage and full batch documentation. Dymond reserves the right to determine whether the cause of failure falls within warranty scope.

This Promise applies to most DIY and light commercial indoor projects. Larger commercial and industrial installations may be eligible for custom coverage — contact us for terms.
